ideas
It's rare that someone who proposes an idea or thesis or explains a
point of view is completely 100% right. Most of the time, there are
pieces that are right and pieces that aren't right. Even in science
some things are correct, while others are still unknown, or faulty,
whithin the same argument. Therefore the wholesale rejection of an
entire idea based on a dislike of one part of it, or a single wrong
conclusion/interpretation or explanation can be throwing the proverbial
baby out with the proverbial bathwater. I think that there is more
potential for 'enlightenment' when you have the ability to consume
arguments that you don't entirely agree with, yet find ideas, methods,
trains of thought or other inspiration from such arguments. Like the
saying goes, even jokes have a kernel of truth. Sometimes, such as in
religion, I think that some of the effects may be valid, but the
attribution is not.
